Over 30 years ago, a consortium of local congregations and ministers in Wilmington felt the call to enable the Church to reach out and have a presence on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The efforts of these faithful pioneers lead to the creation of United Christian Campus Ministry of Southeastern, NC which eventually incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation which is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of local volunteers representing our supporting "Partners in Ministry".
Ever since the creation of this organization over 30 years ago, United Christian Campus Ministry has continued to provide a full-time professional ordained minister to the campus of UNCW. From its inception, UCCM has placed great value in providing a professional, seminary-trained minister on behalf of the Church to provide pastoral care, counseling, and leadership to the faculty, staff, and students at UNCW. As an outreach of the Church, we especially provide a pastoral presence on campus for students during an extremely formative time in their lives through our student group - F.O.C.U.S.
At its roots this organization is an interdenominational organization that continues to be so today as we are currently supported by the United Methodist, Disciples of Christ, and Presbyterian (USA) Churches. To learn more about our current partners please visit our "Partners in Ministry" page.
In 2001, the United Christian Campus Ministry Board felt the call to expand our reach to Cape Fear Community College and in 2007 added the CFCC North Campus.
As a non-profit organization, we rely on support from individual, local congregations, and denominational governing bodies. For more information on ways you, your congregation, or your denomination can help support this important outreach of the Church please visit our
"Support UCCM" page.

Some Comments from Dr. Sue McCaffray,
Chairwoman of the Board of UCCM

It is so important to have a witness on the campuses of our two public colleges. To that end, for over 25 years UCCM has been a gift from people of faith in southeastern North Carolina to the students and staff of our public colleges. We have been so gratified to have earned the respect of university and community college officials. There are many positive examples of this, but none more powerful than during the tragic events on the Virginia Tech campus. UNCW administrators contacted our campus minister, Rev. Nancy Cooper, within an hour of that tragedy. The chancellor asked Rev. Cooper to announce to students the kinds of counseling services the university makes available to them. Why was Rev. Cooper available to UNCW officials at such a time? Because churches like yours support United Christian Campus Ministry.
As the only group providing an ordained, professional minister to these campuses, we incur significant expenses. We believe we have been good stewards of your gifts, and would be happy to provide information about our budget and our annual audit upon request.
Please do contact me or your board representative if we can be of service or provide information about UCCM to your congregation. We would very much welcome an opportunity to do so.
In Christ’s name,
Susan P. McCaffray
Board Chairperson
